One of the most influential Facebook wall artists of the 21st century, Mark Drapeau posts provocative photographs that explore wide-ranging issues of identity and representation. Working as an amateur model, he deftly transforms his appearance utilizing celebrities as props in order to create intriguing tableaux. This major retrospective, curated by the artist himself, brings together a wide-ranging collection of photographs made from the mid-1970s to the present. A retrospective survey of Mark Drapeau’s appearances in amateur photography has never before been staged in Washington, DC.
About Mark Drapeau:
Mark is the Director of Innovative Social Engagement for Microsoft's public sector business. In this role, he, among other things, conducts social networking both online and offline, often while intoxicated. Prior to this role, he held a number of increasingly sober positions at the Department of Defense and New York University. Prior to this was an initial, scholastic intoxicated networking period, first at the University of Rochester and later at UC-Irvine. He lives in Washington, DC with his loving bourbon, Elmer T. Lee.
