Web Capitalism Doesn't Need a Bailout
Commentary abounds on how the free market paradigm is in flux, the opinions provided by "experts" are unreliable, and traditional banking institutions and foreign aid models are outdated. The answer to many of these challenges is that more regulation and oversight is necessary. This need not be the case. Emerging market constructs on the web are offering alternatives that thrive without the hand of government in the mix. While they embrace pure market capitalism, these sites can be vehicles to promote transparency, effective decision-making, and community development. I would like to profile examples of how technology can power market forces to progress towards more open, free, and efficient decisions and exchanges.
