Big media and New media: Rethinking customers and competitors

The headlines about the perils of the news industry are everywhere and concerns about the death of journalism are not just held by journalists. Used to living in a world of intense competition between rival papers and stations, established media has to learn to live with the new media paradigm where bloggers are both customers and competitors. How can media build community for the communities they serve and overcome an ingrained culture? Can everyone win together?
