Exploring the Rise of Social Interactivity within Mainstream Digital Content

An examination of how socially-interactive features found in social gaming (such as Zynga), virtual words and virtual goods is beginning to make a cultural impact within people's online experiences with companies developing platforms and content that combines real-life social features with synchronous media content. We will take a look at examples of socially-interactive digital content in our everyday lives, as well as the impact it is having on consumers and advertisers.

About Jon Goldman:

Jon Goldman is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the socially-interactive content viewing platform Qlipso, where he oversees operations, strategic planning and contributes to new product development for the company. Before leading Qlipso, Goldman co-founded and was CEO of the video game development company Foundation 9 Entertainment, and also co-founded Backbone Entertainment and ImaginEngine Corp.

Goldman was a key player in bringing Backbone Entertainment’s original IP, Death, Jr., to multiple media. The project was developed simultaneously as a videogame, comic book and feature film. Goldman was instrumental in the development of every stage of the project, handling negotiations with game and comic book publishers, Hollywood studios and toy companies.

He offers a unique perspective on how developing games and traditional media at the same time can be a powerful and mutually enforcing new strategy for content creation. Previous to founding Foundation 9 Entertainment, Backbone Entertainment and ImaginEngine Corp., Goldman worked at an investment banking and advisory firm specializing in partnerships between U.S. and Asian technology companies. In addition, Goldman created a children's story publishing venture, which received attention across the country, including such places as the Wall Street Journal and National Public Radio.

Goldman has spoken on a number of topics pertaining to the entertainment and game industries, including the Electronic Entertainment Expo, and iHollywood Forum.

Goldman attended Harvard, where he received an A.B. degree, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in East Asian Studies, followed by a Mombusho fellowship at the University of Kyoto.
