Future of Exercise or Cult? Open & DIY Exercise

Most exercise routines default to Globo-Gym, treating its customers like hamsters all while increasing boredom and lowing your bank account. There is hope: Crossift (http://www.crossfit.com/), a do-it-yourself program )or you can join a "box") that really focuses on developing real fitness through a pseudo-random set of exercises. AND the best thing is it can be completed in 30 minutes a day 5 times a week at zero to no cost. 12 months ago I was going through the same infinite do-loop exercise routine: upper body, lower body, run, rinse, repeat. Bored out of my skull, with little to nothing to show for it. No more, I was recently introduced to Crossfit, which shares a number of the same characteristics of OSS: atomic units of source exercises, open participation, recombination of source exercises, competitions, DIY.

John Scott is slowly getting back into shape doing crossift and is no longer bored (and actually has fun!) working out. He has previously spoken at a number of technology conference including, eTech, OSCON and Ignite-OSCON. His day job is consulting to US DoD and the US Federal Governement.
