DC's Black Cultural Aesthetic: More Than Just Popping Bottles
DC, historically known as "Chocolate City" has unfortunately, been overrun by a materialistic-centered, bottle-popper mindset that prevails when it comes to nightlife and what gets the most attention. Using the tenets of Addison Gayle's "The Black Aesthetic" this presentation will showcase those that are fighting to make a Black "cultural" aesthetic more of the norm and less of a sub-culture, when it comes to DC nightlife.

Risikat "Kat" Okedeyi is the owner of LiL SoSo Productions. As an event concepts producer and artist manager, she contributes heavily to DC's creative arts community and economy. She is an modern-day market woman who makes the "abstract tangible" and believes that Black culture should be celebrated as American culture.
