Ignite DC #7

Amy Saidman

The Dos & Dont's of Life with a Special Needs Dog

Part story, part tips about what to do and not do if, like me, you impulsively adopt a 10 month old pitbull-shepherd mix when you know absolutely nothing about having a dog.

About Amy Saidman:

Amy Saidman is the Artistic Executive Director of SpeakeasyDC -- Washington's hottest storytelling performance and class series -- and a two-time recipient of the individual artist fellowship from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Her parents gave away their dog, Puff, when she was 8 because he was humping the guests too much, and the cat, Trouble, for peeing on the couch. She did not realize till adulthood that giving your pets away when you get tired of them is not something that most people do.
