Ignite DC #8

George Lewis

IPv6 and you

Internet Protocol version six was first published in 1998 after it was realized that the Internet would grow beyond the available protocol. Yet, today, deployments are rare, and applications are not capitalizing on the new capabilities.

You are not an Internet provider or network operator, why should you, as a citizen, care? More importantly, why should you adamantly push your Internet provider, office workplace, and mobile carrier to support and embrace IPv6?

Quick guide to what everyone should expect to benefit from the IPv6 landscape of the future: web apps, peer to peer data transfers, security and privacy, and most importantly: giving you more power over your data.
