High Stakes Speech

“What the heck is a high stakes speech?” A colleague asked that question years ago; and it really intimidated me! My only reply was: “Um, I dunno.” Many years and cups of coffee later..., that colleague’s question continues to fascinate and expand to more curiosity like: what are the who-when-why factors surrounding some of the big speeches with big, big consequence? And what do these historical speakers share with any of us wanting to relate to live audiences? This Ignite talk will serve as a five minute time machine, transporting our Ignite community to three speeches in history. From eras of war, liberty, and unexpected triumph -- we will look at how three mighty speeches (and their speakers) made an impact when the stakes were high.
