NYC2DC - WTF?

I just moved down to DC after living in the Big Apple for the past six years. I'm getting used to the a different kind of living, where the metro system shuts down at midnight and things don't get done until there is unanimous committee approval.

I miss New York, but I have to say, I've been impressed by what DC has to offer. The food, the culture, the substance, the energy - I know it's a fantastic place! But I do need some simple questions answered before I can fully embrace it as home. Can the DC community help me out, please?
